Job Overview

This is a skilled position that requires the individual to train new employees and refresh current employees on the safe operation of a CMV as per company policies. The individual must have a good understanding of construction, paving, material delivery, and company standards and policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for "road testing" potential new drivers.
  • Responsible for the initial orientation and training of new drivers.
  • Able to inspect, analyze and diagnose malfunctions in trucking equipment.
  • Able to accurately record training documentation.
  • Must have a good knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Must be willing to work with PL teams to develop training procedures.
  • Mentor/Trainer will conduct Safety Meetings on interval specified by management.
  • Must be able to communicate company safety and production standards to all drivers.
  • Must provide feedback in a way that promotes productivity and positive morale.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules.
  • Will work with management on maintaining a training schedule.
  • Will drive trucks when other training duties are complete or not needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Mentor/Trainer must have a minimum of 3 years driving experience within the industry.
  • Mentor/Trainer has consistently exhibited behaviors that demonstrate commitment to safe production expectations.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Computer Skills
  • Basic computer skills required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Valid Class "A or B" CDL as per DOT requirements.
  • Transportation Mentor/Trainer will hold a doubles endorsement.
  • Current Medical Card.
