Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Tuba City Regional Health Care Corp. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing complex imaging procedures using computed tomography (CT) equipment, ensuring high-quality images and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently perform computerized axial tomographic scanning of heads and/or bodies.
  • Train and critique the work of another technologist, assist when procedures require it.
  • Produce ionizing radiation within a safe permissible range to achieve quality images.
  • Provide proper patient protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards related to radiographic examination.
  • Secure the confidence and cooperation of patients during examinations and procedures.
  • Assist physicians and radiologists in administering opaque media for all contrast prescribed radiographic examination.
  • Monitor vital signs and notify radiologists of any significant changes.
  • Assist in performing emergency first aid if required and delegated areas of authority in the performance of routine and special procedures, involving various tomographic examinations.
  • Schedule patients for examination, evaluate requests for critical and/or emergency procedures, and change the schedule to accommodate patients of a higher priority.
  • Receive patients, explore methods or procedures, position patients, and make the exposures necessary for requested examinations.
  • Explain procedures to the patient, position, and transfer patients to the table for examination.
  • Independently perform standardized examinations, determine the appropriate thickness for technique, and recognize standard targeting techniques necessary to complete the examination.
  • Confer with the Radiologist to establish the requirements of non-standardized examinations, appropriate targeting techniques, and/or other deviations required to perform a complete examination.
  • Maintain required daily logs of all patients, examinations performed, images taken, etc., as well as general office work, entering exams into the RIS, completion of paperwork, sending images to the PACS and/or Teleradiology providers.
Requirements
  • Must have successfully completed radiology training from an AMA-approved school of Radiology.
  • Must have successfully completed training in the radiology field (CT) and have at least 3 years of experience.
  • Must have expertise to operate teleradiology and fax equipment.
  • Must possess a current valid Arizona State License in Radiology (R).
  • Must possess a current ARRT Certification in Radiology, with advanced qualifications in CT Scan (RT)(CT).
  • Must have and maintain a current valid certification of the following throughout employment: Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
Working Conditions

The work requires ability to endure long periods of maintaining balance, frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, twisting, reaching, and must have ability to occasionally sit, drive, and climb. Position of patients who may be unconscious or disabled require considerable effort and working in awkward positions. Incumbent must have ability to frequently lift up to 75lbs and occasionally over 100lbs. Must be able to push and pull frequently over 100lbs and occasionally over a 100lbs. Heavy lifting of totally incapacitated patients is done only with the help of other employees available.

Sensory requirements for position include ability for far, near, and color vision, depth perception, seeing fine details, hearing normal speech, hearing overhead pages, and hearing over the telephone. The ability of both hand manipulation is required, must have ability of simple and firm grasping, fine manipulation, and use of keyboards.

Individual is required to be available for emergency call-back services and is required to be at the duty station as assigned even though he/she may have had to work all night long on emergency call-back.

The incumbent must perform all imaging procedures that are complex and intricate as the instrument selection factors must be tailored to each patient habitus correlated with anatomical areas of clinical concern. Diagnostic quality is markedly affected by the incumbents ability to maximally utilize equipment capabilities and to extrapolate relevant visual images on the screen to the recorded exam.

Incumbent must be able to efficiently read, write, and comprehend both written and verbal reporting. Must have the ability to concentrate for a prolonged period of time, frequently handle a high degree of flexibility, and demonstrate a high degree of patience.

Must occasionally cope with high levels of stress, make decisions under high pressure, cope with anger/fear/hostility of others in a calm way, manage altercations, handle multiple priorities in stressful situations, work alone, adapt to shift work, and work in areas that are close and crowded.

This job requires exposure to the following environmental conditions: Frequent prolonged risk of radiation; occasional exposure working around and near moving mechanical parts; and, risk of electrical shock.

The working environment is usually very quiet. May frequently be exposed to hazardous or moving equipment. May also experience occasional exposure to infectious diseases, chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, extremes in temperature or humidity, and loud noises.
