Position Overview:
The Facilities Department at Allan Hancock College is seeking applications to create a pool of qualified candidates for a short-term role as an automotive mechanic.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections on various mechanical equipment including buses, automobiles, trucks, and tractors.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs such as overhauling engines and transmissions.
- Execute tasks like relining brakes, aligning wheels, and making electrical repairs.
- Carry out welding tasks and maintain power lawnmowers and other mechanical devices.
- Service equipment with fuel and oil, lubricate machinery, and manage tire repairs.
- Drive buses as required and oversee the performance of student bus drivers.
Required Knowledge:
- Familiarity with tools and procedures for servicing and repairing motor equipment.
- Understanding of fuel, ignition, electrical, cooling, and braking systems.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in mechanical repair.
Minimum Qualifications:
- One year of experience as a journeyman automotive mechanic; diesel experience is preferred.
- A valid California Driver's License and eligibility for district vehicle insurance coverage.
- Successful completion of the California Highway Patrol's school bus driver examination and possession of a First Aid Certificate.
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
- Friday: 7:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
