Key Responsibilities

Independently manage and assess the collection, documentation, and distribution of project costs and revenues, ensuring precise profit and loss assessments, and comparing budgeted versus actual expenditures.Oversee the entire lifecycle of project accounting, from establishing project accounts to monitoring budgets, validating invoices, and reconciling project financials.Conduct detailed accounting functions related to project contract revenues, billing events, and addressing billing discrepancies.Collaborate with project managers to set and adjust project budgets in response to contract changes or budgetary adjustments.Produce comprehensive financial reports for projects, identifying issues that require escalation to project management.Authorize access to project accounts and manage the transfer of expenses in accordance with established accounting standards.Maintain high-quality control standards for generating accurate project financial records using relevant software and tools.Utilize accounting knowledge to analyze project resources, labor, and expenses, investigating variances and reporting findings to management.Review contract terms and change orders, ensuring accurate interpretation and compliance with contractual obligations.Ensure accuracy of draft invoices based on contractual agreements, coordinating with project managers for approvals before submission to clients.Manage subcontractor relations, including reviewing invoice submissions for accuracy and coordinating payment requests.Track unpaid contract billings and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable.Respond to client inquiries regarding project expenses and review all project-related billings for accuracy.Participate in project meetings to provide updates on financial status and address any financial concerns.Prepare and submit government reports related to project activities.Compile necessary documentation for review by senior consultants and auditors.Stay informed on the latest project accounting practices and regulations.Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.Perform additional duties as required to meet business needs.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.1 to 3 years of relevant experience in accounting and project financial management.Understanding of project accounting principles and their application in project environments.Strong analytical skills with the ability to make sound judgments in financial matters.Effective communication skills, capable of conveying ideas to both accounting and non-accounting audiences.Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.Proficient in accounting software, spreadsheet applications, and data analysis tools.Critical thinking skills to analyze data and develop logical solutions.Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies.Willingness to travel as required by project needs.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with Oracle software is a plus.
