Job Title: Marine Mechanic, Senior

At TopSide Marinas, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Mechanic, Senior to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing complex mechanical repairs and installations on marine vessels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and repair marine gas and diesel engines, including maintenance and complete overhauls
  • Repair and rebuild gearsets, transmissions, and stern drives
  • Diagnose and repair carbureted and fuel injected intake systems
  • Repair propulsion systems, including transmissions, sail drives, and stern drives
  • Diagnose and repair gensets, 12V, and battery bank systems
  • Operate diagnostic software
  • Perform winterization and spring commissioning of engines and ship systems
  • Install new engines, air conditioning systems, pumps, anchor windlass, and other assigned systems
  • Perform mechanical repairs, including water systems, waste systems, steering systems, engine controls, pumps, and other related systems
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians
Requirements:
  • High school diploma required
  • Valid driver's license required
  • 6+ years of experience in mechanical repair and installation
  • OEM certification(s)
  • Volvo Penta certification preferred
  • Ability to speak and read English and understand electrical wiring diagrams
  • Ability to use test instruments
  • Ability to use specialty tools as designated by OEM's
  • Must provide tools and test equipment
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting capabilities
  • Experience in electrical and electronic installations
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the job
  • Strong work ethic and personal commitment
  • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve team, department, and company goals
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work independently
  • Experience with a variety of internal combustion engines (diesel, inboard, outboard, etc.)
  • Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work
  • Ability to meet physical requirements, including bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 lbs, working at heights of up to 25 feet, working around water, and working in tight spaces
