Job Description

Job Summary:

Zolman's Best One Tire & Service is seeking a skilled Commercial Tire Technician to join our team in Mishawaka and South Bend locations. As a Commercial Tire Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of commercial and large equipment tires.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Remove, install, rotate, balance, and perform flat repairs on commercial and large equipment tires in-shop or at customer locations, adhering to TIA Commercial guidelines.
  • Safely separate and reassemble tires onto wheels using specialized equipment.
  • Inspect casings for defects and locate and seal tire punctures (patch and plug).
  • Prepare rims and wheel drums for reassembly by scraping, grinding, or sandblasting.
  • Inspect vehicles using inspection forms and report potential repairs to supervisors.
  • Perform basic maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Drive service trucks to customer locations and for road service.
  • Raise and lower vehicles safely using hydraulic or floor jacks.
  • Safely operate all shop machinery, including safety cages, spreaders, balancers, floor jacks or lifts, air-powered tools, torque wrenches, and torque sticks.
  • Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment.
  • Read work orders thoroughly and perform all listed tasks.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or general education degree (GED).
  • 1-2 years' experience in passenger or commercial tire repair.
  • Valid driver's license with a driving record that meets company insurance requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT physical (for service trucks).
  • TIA Commercial 200 Level certification (company-provided training available).
  • Ongoing training required per company standards.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Frequent lifting over 50 pounds from ground to chest high.
  • Frequent squatting, bending, and twisting.
  • Repetitive motion.
  • Sustained vibrations.
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Reading tickets and performing work listed; writing confirmation and recommendations.
  • Working in an environment not climate-controlled, with temperatures ranging from extremely hot to extremely cold.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, safety harnesses, and proper footwear.
