We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Preoperative and Transfusion Services team. As a RN - Pre-Op/Transfusion Specialist, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care in the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative environments. Your duties will include assessing patient needs, developing individualized plans of care, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Performs direct patient care following an individualized plan of care
- Documents patient care given in Med-Host, Nextgen, and Exit Care (EMR systems)
- Assesses, monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate
- Assures all pre-operative requirements are met prior to transfer to the operating room
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient
- Follows Infection Control and Safety Guidelines
- Monitors and maintains sterile technique in the operating room
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong foundation in nursing principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will also need to be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information with discretion.
