Estimating Engineer 2

As an Estimating Engineer 2 at JE Dunn Construction, you will be responsible for:
- Performing quantity surveys of materials shown on project plans.
- Reading and outlining project specifications.
- Maintaining an audit trail of the quantity survey from estimate to estimate.
- Supporting vendor/subcontractor pricing/bid solicitation and coordination.
- Supporting the distribution of plans and specifications to vendors/subcontractors.
- Working collaboratively and creating relationships with a variety of stakeholders, such as project team members, subcontractors, vendors and clients.
- Gaining self-perform estimating experience.
- Gaining field operational exposure through onsite project support, as opportunities exist.
In addition to the above responsibilities, this position will also be responsible for:
- Preparing basic components of cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals.
- Soliciting, coordinating, and compiling vendor quotes for estimate team evaluation.
- Assisting with pricing and tracking of value creation items from development through estimate inclusion.
- Participating in constructability reviews; documenting QA/QC input and ensuring estimate integration.
- Assisting with developing scopes of work for basic trades and receiving and analyzing subcontractor/vendor proposals. Providing coordination input to complete project needs.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.
- Communication skills, verbal and written.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in construction estimating software.
- Proficiency in required construction technology.
- Knowledge of the means and methods of construction management.
- Ability to learn quantity surveys.
- Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work.
- Knowledge of Lean process and philosophy.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.
You will need:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or related field.
- In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
This role will require:
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
- May require periods of overnight travel.
- Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs.
- Normal office environment, but may be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold).
