Position Overview

D.C. Global Talent Inc. is in search of a skilled and creative Head Pastry Artisan to lead our pastry division. In this pivotal role, you will manage a dedicated team of 9 pastry specialists, ensuring the seamless operation of our pastry section while crafting exceptional and innovative desserts for our upscale dining venue. Your mastery in pastry artistry, presentation, and team leadership will be crucial in enhancing our pastry offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and mentor a team of 9 pastry specialists, fostering an environment of excellence and professional development.
  • Design and curate imaginative dessert menus that reflect your culinary vision and expertise.
  • Supervise the daily production of high-volume pastry items, guaranteeing timely execution and impeccable presentation.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to create and implement bespoke dessert menus for special events, including weddings and corporate gatherings.
  • Source premium ingredients and materials for pastry creation, engaging with suppliers as needed.
  • Ensure a hygienic and organized workspace, complying with health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee inventory management, including the procurement of supplies and equipment.
  • Develop and execute cost-effective strategies to uphold profitability while ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Engage in menu development and pricing strategies.
  • Promote a collaborative and respectful workplace culture, encouraging teamwork and open dialogue.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a pastry chef in a high-end culinary environment or specialty bakery.
  • Demonstrated success in leading a team of pastry professionals.
  • Strong technical proficiency in pastry techniques, including cake decoration, sugar artistry, and chocolate crafting.
  • Exceptional presentation skills, with a keen eye for detail in creating visually stunning desserts.
  • Proven leadership and management capabilities, with the ability to inspire and guide a team.
  • Experience in high-end grocery operations is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts or a related discipline.
  • Advanced understanding of pastry ingredients, techniques, and equipment.
  • Certification in pastry arts or a related field.
