  • Safely Operate a Garbage Truck: Ensure the safe operation of a garbage truck on designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Collect Solid Waste: Collect solid waste from residential customers, following established routes and procedures.
  • Perform Vehicle Inspections: Conduct routine inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
  • Load and Unload Trash: Load and unload trash from the truck, often without assistance.
  • Interact with Customers: Interact with customers in a courteous and professional manner, responding to their needs and concerns.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
  • Physical Demands: The position requires extensive physical activity, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds.
  • Work Environment: The work environment involves some exposure to physical risks, such as moving mechanical parts, requiring basic safety precautions.
  • Weather Conditions: The position requires working in various weather conditions, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration.
Requirements
  • Age and Driving Record: Must be 21 years of age or older with a satisfactory driving record.
  • CDL License: Valid Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement as a minimum.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English.
  • Knowledge of Truck Components: Basic knowledge of truck components to complete pre- and post-trip inspections.
  • Work Schedule: Ability to work Monday - Friday with some Saturdays, approximately 55-60 hours a week with paid overtime.
