Job Overview

This part-time position offers the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students by providing safe and reliable transportation. As a Student Transportation Specialist, you will be responsible for transporting students to and from school, as well as participating in extended trips to out-of-town destinations.

Responsibilities

  • Transport students to and from school, adhering to safety rules and maintaining a safe operating environment at all times.
  • Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles safely and courteously.
  • Maintain student discipline on the bus, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all passengers.
  • Report any incidents or concerns to the appropriate administrator or Transportation Director.
  • Perform routine vehicle checks to ensure proper functioning of equipment and report any issues.
  • Pick up and drop off students at designated locations, following strict time schedules.
  • Read maps and follow written and verbal directions to navigate routes efficiently.

Requirements

  • Valid Arkansas Class B Commercial Driver's License with School Bus/Passenger Endorsement and Air Brakes Endorsement.
  • No prior experience necessary, but ability to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and programs associated with the position.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions

The work environment for this position is a combination of indoor and outdoor work. The work may involve periods of temperature extremes, especially in summer when buses are not air-conditioned. The noise level can be moderate to high depending on the number of students on a bus and road noise.

Estimated Salary Range

$25,000 - $35,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
