The Field Medic is responsible for delivering critical life support services to individuals who are ill or injured at designated training facilities. This role involves providing medical assistance to both personnel and trainees during exercises and other specified events. The Field Medic will evaluate the severity of medical conditions to determine the appropriate response and the necessity for further medical intervention. Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, monitoring patient conditions, and adhering to established medical protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver medical care to individuals at training sites and other assigned locations. Assess the nature and severity of injuries or illnesses to prioritize medical actions. Document observations and patient reports in accordance with established procedures.Safety Oversight Duties:
Conduct safety inspections related to maintenance and construction activities.Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one year experience as an EMT/Paramedic. One year of experience as a TCFP Basic Firefighter.Required Certifications:
TDSHHS EMT-Paramedic certification. TCFP Firefighter-Basic certification. Valid driver's license.Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree from an accredited institution. Five years of experience as an EMT/Paramedic and two years as a TCFP Basic Firefighter. Operational experience as a certified paramedic.Physical Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Capacity to lift significant weight with assistance. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.Skills and Abilities:
Familiarity with EMS protocols in training environments. Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism. Decision-making capabilities in emergency situations.Equipment Utilization:
Proficient in using medical equipment such as LifePak devices. Knowledge of gas detection equipment. Familiarity with reporting software and standard office tools.Additional Information:
This position is security-sensitive. The role may require flexible working hours, including nights and weekends. Employment is based on temporary organizational needs, with no guaranteed hours. Exposure to potentially infectious materials is anticipated. Compliance with relevant laws and regulations is mandatory. All duties must be performed safely and in accordance with safety protocols.Essential Functions:
Medical Care Provision – 80%:
Provide medical assistance to individuals at training sites. Evaluate and prioritize medical responses based on patient conditions. Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions.Safety Inspections – 20%:
Conduct safety assessments related to training site operations.Other Responsibilities:
Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisory personnel. May be required to assist in emergency deployments as directed.
