Job Description:

The Dialysis Technician provides patient care and performs tasks as delegated by a Registered Nurse, adhering to established practice standards. The technician is responsible for delivering competent dialysis treatment, observing patient responses, and reporting variations to the charge RN as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Initiate, monitor, and terminate dialysis therapy in accordance with provider orders.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients and caregivers by adhering to Intermountain policies and procedures.
  • Document patient care in the electronic health record.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and programs.
Requirements:
  • Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers prior to start date.
  • Caregivers must obtain Certified Chronic Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) Certification within 18 months of hire or vacate the role.
  • Current Certified Chronic Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) Certification for certified caregivers.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Dialysis experience.
  • Experience working in a regulated healthcare environment.
  • Phlebotomy experience.
Physical Requirements:

The Dialysis Technician must be able to:

  • Evaluate and interpret color-coded test results on test strips.
  • Interact with patient care providers, patients, and visitors, requiring verbal communication and hearing.
  • Manipulate complex equipment with precision and accuracy.
  • Lift and transfer patients, bend to retrieve supplies, and walk to assist with patient care.
