JOB SUMMARY:
The Financial Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization. This role includes the generation of periodic financial reports, maintaining a robust system of accounting records, and implementing a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate financial risk. The Financial Operations Manager is also tasked with enhancing the accuracy of the organization's reported financial outcomes and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Maximizes financial asset returns by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
- Guides financial decision-making by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; and recommending plans.
- Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; and initiating corrective actions.
- Provides insights into financial conditions by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
- Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Ensures compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements and professional standards.
- Establishes and maintains financial controls within the accounting department.
- Ensures timely completion of periodic bank reconciliations.
- Ensures timely payment of required debt obligations.
- Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Collaborates with external auditors and provides necessary information for the annual audit.
- Files quarterly and annual reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
- Protects operations by maintaining confidentiality of financial information and plans.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced startup, entertainment, or media environment.
- Experience supervising teams of at least 5 members.
- Experience in creating and managing budgets exceeding $50MM.
- Familiarity with NetSuite.
- Public company experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP.
- Excellent organizational skills, including attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
- Understanding of current social/digital platforms.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Good understanding of the web, social media, and the talent & creator landscape.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, and Slack.
- A commitment to excellence and a strong belief in diversity and collaboration.
- BA degree in a relevant field.
- 15+ years of relevant experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively to give and receive information and instructions.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to type or handle objects, tools, or controls.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to use a computer keyboard for up to 80% of the day.
- Visual acuity, ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision for work on a laptop or other computer equipment.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
