Seeking an experienced Clinical Blood Bank Supervisor to lead our Blood Bank Section. As a key member of our Laboratory team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of blood bank testing, as well as supervising laboratory personnel to meet regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Establish and maintain policies and procedures for the Blood Bank Section.
- Supervise laboratory personnel to ensure accurate and timely testing.
- Verify the accuracy of test results and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Perform technical procedures as required by department or director.
- Inspect instruments and verify that equipment is in proper working order.
- Ensure that test results correlate with each other and the patient's clinical situation.
- Recheck and report questionable results to the Laboratory Director.
- Follow and audit the Hospital critical value procedure.
- Demonstrate proficiency in performing all computer tasks associated with job responsibilities.
- Perform scheduled maintenance to assure proper operation of equipment and record procedures performed.
- Perform quality control and quality assurance procedures and instrument checks correctly.
- Supervise laboratory personnel to provide direction, support, and technical ability to others.
- Audit the performance of all personnel in the department, ensure competencies are maintained, and complete evening staff performance evaluations.
- Schedule all personnel in the department to meet staffing requirements as determined by the Laboratory Manager and Section Heads.
- Work with the Laboratory Director to maintain fiscal responsibility in the Blood Bank Section, including salary and non-salary budget requirements.
- Establish quality systems to ensure departmental goals are met and corrective action is taken if needed.
- Work with the Departments of Surgery and Oncology to ensure blood products meet the needs of this patient population.
- Assist the Laboratory Director in preparing reports and statistics for Administration and Nursing regarding the Blood Bank.
- Maintain the Therapeutic Phlebotomy program.
- Responsible for department supply billing reconciliation and act as a resource to the Business office for Blood Bank patient billing questions.
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or a Life Science.
- MT (ASCP), SBB preferred.
