POSITION TITLE: Machinist Level III

DEPARTMENT: Machine Shop

REPORTS TO: Machining Lead

PAY TYPE: Hourly

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The individual will primarily operate during the second shift, with the possibility of overtime as required. Collaboration with team members is essential to ensure the timely production of high-quality components in a safe environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The main duties include:

  • Creating, reviewing, and refining machine programs for 2-axis lathes and mills utilizing Gibbs Cam Programming.
  • Engaging in new part development, assessing and implementing modification requests, and enhancing existing programs or tooling.
  • Interpreting part and die drawings; adjusting machine speeds and feeds while selecting suitable tooling.
  • Consulting with Design Engineers and Quality Assurance personnel as needed to guarantee that parts adhere to the dimensional specifications outlined in the drawings, while ensuring that the final product meets established quality standards.
  • Managing consumable inventory to avoid interruptions in production schedules.
  • Collaborating with fellow operators to troubleshoot issues.
  • Operating machinery and following the machine shop's production schedule.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 10 years of programming experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in CAD/CAM software with a fundamental understanding of GD&T.
  • Strong mathematical skills are essential.
  • A willingness to learn and a positive attitude are crucial.
  • A broad comfort zone is highly desirable.

SCOPE:

This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.
