Job Title: Research Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Weill Cornell Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating clinical research trials, with a focus on HIV clinical trial research.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a liaison between inpatient and outpatient units for study patients, ensuring continuity of care and continuous recruitment of patients.
  • Administer appropriate drugs as deemed necessary by the protocols, working with pharmacy to ensure proper handling and adherence to protocol rules.
  • Assist laboratory technicians with phlebotomy processing and shipping as needed.
  • Assist outreach coordinators with recruitment of new patients to protocols, reviewing eligibility and participating in outreach activities as deemed necessary.
  • Assist physicians with completion of applications for clinical studies, preparing and maintaining consent forms for each study.
  • Responsible for various aspects of patient treatment protocols, evaluating and performing assessments, performing patient education, and monitoring patients on studies.
  • Review and complete protocol history sheets, flow sheets, study follow-up reports, patient evaluation forms, and other relevant forms and surveys.
  • Work with data managers on proper data collection and interpretation of clinical data, reviewing protocol procedures, and staying up-to-date on institutional regulations relevant to protocols.
Requirements:
  • Master's of Science Degree in Nursing.
  • Previous experience working in clinical research or in infectious disease, preferably with HIV patients.
  • Prior experience with management of research protocols and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Maintains awareness of hospital policies and procedures, as well as good clinical practices standards.
  • NYS Registered Nurse Practitioner (NP) license and current NP registration.
  • NYS Registered Professional Nurse license and current RN registration.
  • Applicable National Board Certification (such as ANCC, PNCB, etc).
  • BLS certification, issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Infection Control Certificate.
