Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pest Controller to join our team at Air Education and Training Command. As a Pest Controller, you will be responsible for performing pest detection and extermination work, conducting troubleshooting inspections, and applying IPM procedures to control pests in and around residences, offices, food service areas, storage areas, aquatic areas, lawns, trees, and shrubs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of assigned facilities, grounds, drainage ditches, and marsh and water areas to identify pest infestations.
  • Apply advanced principles and procedures of IPM, including chemical control techniques, precise surveys, and parasite and predator usage, to control pests effectively.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power equipment/tools, such as fogger mist machines, injection pumps, and hand spraying equipment, to apply pesticides and other control measures.
  • Work safely and efficiently, utilizing safety practices and procedures, and complying with established safety rules and regulations, to minimize risks to yourself and others.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of physical characteristics, life cycles, and feeding habits of a wide variety of pests.
  • Knowledge of advanced principles and procedures of IPM, including chemical control techniques, precise surveys, and parasite and predator usage.
  • Knowledge of pesticide toxicity, chemical solutions, and baits.
  • Knowledge of federal and state requirements dealing with the mixture, application, and disposal of restricted use pesticides.
  • Ability to interpret building plans and blueprints.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a variety of environments, including outdoors in hot sun, bad weather, and dusty conditions, as well as indoors in structural areas with minimum ventilation and/or limited access. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment, such as respirators, gloves, and goggles, to minimize risks to your health.
