About the Role

Portobello America is seeking a skilled Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures and downtime, and address hazards or potential risks.
  • Equipment Diagnostics: Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems with machinery throughout the building.
  • Repair and Replacement: Perform necessary repairs or replacements to resolve issues promptly.
  • Record Keeping: Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
  • Collaboration: Work with external contractors and vendors for more complex repairs or specialized services.
  • Safety Protocols: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment, utilizing proper PPE at all times.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay updated with industry regulations and best practices for maintenance and safety.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance logs, records, and reports.
  • Communication: Provide regular reports on maintenance activities and any issues to the Maintenance Manager.
Training and Development
  • Professional Development: Train with external vendors and contractors while assisting with more complex repairs.
  • Industry Advancements: Stay current with advancements in maintenance technology and techniques.
  • Continuous Learning: Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in maintenance or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of maintenance experience, with mechanical and electrical maintenance expertise.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency with maintenance tools, equipment, and software.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) and work in various physical conditions.
Working Conditions

The Maintenance Specialist will work in an industrial environment with varying temperatures. The position may involve exposure to machinery and chemicals. Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and masks may be required. The position may involve working in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
