The Licensed Practical Nurse practices nursing care under the supervision or direction of a registered nurse and/or the House Supervisor. The directed scope of the LPN practice is in concert with the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act, 2001.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet patients/visitors to the department and provide direction in a courteous, precise manner with a positive tone.
- Contribute to the assessment of the health status of patients by providing a focused assessment and collaborating with the RN/House Supervisor on patient care and information.
- Implement the appropriate aspects of the plan of care, providing direct care to patients, ensuring safety and comfort, using established evidence-based procedures and department policies.
- Prepare and administer medications and injections as authorized by Department of Nursing Policy and Procedure.
- Participate in patient and family teaching and instruction, responsible for completion of assignments without interference to patient care.
- Communicate patient information to Registered Nurse, House Supervisor, and Medical Staff, recognizing and responding to priorities in the patient care process.
- Participate in sharing of knowledge through in-service, staff meetings, and assisting in orientation of new personnel.
Requirements:
- Current LPN License
- CPR Certification
- ACLS Certification preferred
- Graduate of an accredited LPN program
- 1 year experience working with the frail and elderly population
