About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Maintainability Engineer to join our team at Volvo Group. As a key member of our Aftermarket North America team, you will play a critical role in driving the transformation of our company, the transport industry, and society at large.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage Feature Maintainability roadmaps and contribute to technology roadmap synchronization, globally, with other engineering areas and across departments.
  • Drive and validate Feature Maintainability areas considering daily maintenance, predictive, preventive, corrective, diagnostics, and software download over the product development phases.
  • Lead and implement maintainability engineering strategies for an assigned product and technologies.
  • Lead early analysis, concept reviews, packaging studies, and actively take part in failure mode analysis to define repair and diagnostics strategy.
  • Conduct in-depth maintenance cost analysis building product and technology business cases to influence concept selection optimized for maintainability.
  • Improve data collection for maintenance cost and cost of ownership to accelerate data-driven decisions related to maintainability cost improvement.
  • Perform competitor vehicle analysis.
  • Coordinate work with Brands and uptime stakeholders to document customer needs (product targets). Translate these into quantifiable product and technology requirements for maintainability.
  • Balance and breakdown requirements to ensure delivery of expected maintainability cost at the complete vehicle level.
  • Lead technology teams within Maintainability Engineering.
About the Team

Our team, Aftermarket North America, is a vital part of the Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT) organization. GTT is the research and development organization of the Volvo Group. In the Aftermarket Technology engineering team, we provide state-of-the-art customer-focused engineering, service, and diagnostics solutions for our products in the aftermarket, maximizing vehicle uptime and reducing maintenance costs, using connectivity, data, physical facilities, and augmented and virtual reality.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in automotive or mechanical engineering, software or electrical & electronics.
  • 5-8+ years of experience in developing solutions for the transport industry (Class 8 HD truck preferred).
  • Experience in the development and optimization of powertrain systems.
  • Interested in modern computer communication technologies (e.g. REST API's).
  • Experience with data extraction, analysis, and manipulation oriented to engineering solutions.
  • Proficient in using computer-aided design (CAD) software for analyzing and evaluating product designs (PTC CREO preferred).
Additional Competencies and Experiences
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Experience with electromobility, hybrid powertrains, natural gas, or hydrogen.
  • Understanding of heavy-duty truck systems, software architecture, and diagnostic.
  • Knowledge of reliability and maintainability principles, methodologies, and tools (e.g., FMEA, RCM, fault tree analysis).
  • Programming language, preferably Python.
  • Detailed knowledge of products and aftermarket offerings in the heavy-duty truck industry.
  • Heavy-duty truck spare parts & service experience.
  • Heavy-duty truck shop experience.
  • CDL license, or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to travel.

Benefits Statement

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company's growth. For this position, the base salary range is set at $80,500 to $115,605, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
