Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of routine and standardized tests using standard techniques and equipment. This includes preparing specimens, resolving specimen problems, and performing analytical tests. You will also be responsible for labeling and storing specimens, preparing reagents, and assisting in the preparation of standard and control materials.

Responsibilities
  • Instruct patients in preparing for tests that require fasting and answer patient questions regarding the tests.
  • Maintain equipment and investigate problems with equipment.
  • May assist in teaching Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents and training of new employees.
  • May monitor daily operation of laboratory section or work area.
  • May participate on teams or individually perform special projects/assignments.
  • Perform a variety of routine and standardized tests using standard techniques and equipment.
  • Prepare reagents and assist in the preparation of standard and control materials.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have an Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, Chemical Science, or Biological Science. If your degree is in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technician, you must be ASCP or AMT Board of Certification eligible and receive BOC within a year. If your degree is in Chemical or Biological Science, you must have Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) or MLT (AMT) Board of Certification.

Working Conditions

This position is employed by NC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Heath Care System. The salary range for this position is $20.88 - $30.02 per hour.
