Position Overview

We are in search of a dedicated Inpatient Nursing Specialist who thrives in a dynamic healthcare environment.

In this role, you will deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients by evaluating, planning, educating, executing, and assessing age-appropriate care while embracing family-centered principles and cost-effective practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and interpret data from medical records to coordinate patient care effectively.
  • Engage in discussions regarding the patient's care plan with family members and document appropriately.
  • Identify applicable standards of care and communicate these to the healthcare team to address patient needs.
  • Tailor and implement the care plan based on nursing assessments, considering the bio-physical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual, and environmental needs of patients and their families.
  • Assess and document the patient's response to care, recognizing progress towards desired outcomes and discussing findings with the patient and family.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills when interacting with patients, families, visitors, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrate effective delegation and prioritization skills in relation to patient interventions and therapies.
  • Serve as a mentor for new staff and team members to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Qualifications

All employees at Texas Children's Hospital are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any recommended booster doses, unless a medical or religious exemption is approved.


  • A Bachelor's degree in nursing is required, or an Associate's degree or technical diploma in nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and a signed agreement.
  • A valid RN license from the Board of Nursing of the State of Texas is mandatory.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • A minimum of one year of professional nursing experience is necessary.
  • ACLS and PACU/ICU experience is preferred.
