Job Summary

ECC is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geoscientist to oversee soil boring and well drilling/installation operations, working closely with our project team to ensure the successful completion of environmental remediation and hazardous waste management projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with project team members to plan, coordinate, and ensure progress of tasks, activities, and deliverables per the approved budget and schedule.
  • Remediation Solutions: Select and implement cost-effective solutions to remediate or remove contaminants and meet project objectives.
  • Project Submittals: Plan, prepare, review, and issue project and field submittals within approved budget, including pre-construction plans, design documents, testing plans, analytical reports, and shop drawings.
  • Industry Standards: Apply industry standards of practice for selected technology, adhering to regulatory codes and standards, national/local standards, and company SOPs.
  • Risk Management: Identify, address, and communicate technical, operational, and business risks relevant to the selected project approach and technology to the project manager.
  • Procurement: Author RFQs and assist in procurement and selection of technical and specialty subcontractors, consultants, and service providers to accomplish scope of work.
  • Fieldwork: Perform and/or inspect or observe fieldwork, and review work of personnel, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure compliance with approved plans and acceptable tolerances.
  • Testing and Evaluation: Ensure that appropriate and required testing is completed by qualified personnel using properly calibrated equipment.
  • Documentation: Evaluate, review, monitor, and document results and help make necessary decisions/adjustments to procedures.
  • Field Changes: Investigate and recommend solutions in response to field changes, RFIs, and resolve fieldwork or construction issues related to quality, technology, installed equipment, and operation.
Requirements:
  • Communication Skills: The ability to communicate in written or verbal formats with diplomacy and tact.
  • Independent Thinking: An aptitude for exercising independent thinking and reasoning.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills, and skilled at leading dispersed teams to accomplish tasks and activities adhering to established budget and schedule.
  • Project Management: Skilled in achieving project objectives by properly reviewing/inspecting work for adherence to approved technical plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Scientific Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge applying scientific standards of practice and regulatory codes and standards to environmental and field techniques.
  • Technical Documentation: Proven knowledge in reading and comprehending client requirements, technical plans, specifications, and related technical documentation.
  • Subcontractor Management: Successful track record in effectively engaging with subcontractors.
  • Mentorship: Ability to mentor and guide team members and share lessons learned.
  • Professional Development: Dedicated to remaining abreast of technological developments and industry trends.
  • Technical Skills: Competent in using Microsoft Office products, email systems, and Windows.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Four years of progressively responsible experience overseeing soil boring and well drilling/installation operations, working in complex geological environments, performing in-situ or ex-situ environmental systems design, scientific analysis, field engineering support, or quality control on environmental remediation or hazardous waste management projects.
Travel:

Must be able and willing to travel periodically, typically less than 50% depending on the needs of the company.

Education:
  • Degree: Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field.
  • Equivalent Combination: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement.
