Meat Cutter

Job Summary

HAC Retail is seeking a skilled Meat Cutter to join our team. As a Meat Cutter, you will be responsible for identifying and breaking down various cuts of meat, trimming products, and packaging them in a clean and attractive manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and break down various cuts of meat, trim products, and package them in a clean and attractive manner.
• Greet customers, respond to their questions and requests, and explain store policies in a courteous manner.
• Review the perishable department Communication Board daily and follow guidelines for intercom announcements.
• Prepare and organize the cooler, freezer, and backroom areas for receipt of merchandise, verify merchandise against invoices, and inspect deliveries for quality, shortages, and damage.
• Load stocking carts and pallets, transport cases and products to the sales floor, cooler, and freezer areas, and match case strips to shelf tags and stock.
• Understand the operations, safety requirements, and restraints of various equipment, including balers, case cutters, pallet jacks, pricing guns, grinders, tenderizers, saws, knives, slicers, scales, and wrappers.

Requirements

• Basic mathematics skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior meat cutting experience

Working Conditions

• Lift, twist, move, and carry a maximum of 75 pounds from the floor to shelving or overhead racks in the store and cooler/freezer areas.
• Maintain active signage and pricing in all departmental areas.
• Care for signs, banners, and debris from daily operations.
• Accurately and efficiently handle cash, debit/credit, EBT/WIC, coupons, and vouchers.
• Respond to customers, coworkers, and vendor questions and responses promptly and politely.
• Properly use store phone and intercom systems.
• Supervise and perform the checking of case and cooler temperatures four times daily using the time-keeping system to record each check.
• Clean and sanitize department floors, mirrors, cases, racks, tables, coolers, freezers, department equipment, product-preparation areas, and shelves.
