Job Summary

This role requires a highly skilled software engineer with expertise in designing, developing, and implementing complex software systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, with a focus on cloud-based technologies and microservices architecture. The role involves leading a team of engineers, mentoring, and guiding them to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and test software systems, including cloud-based and internet-related tools.
  • Write code that establishes and enhances coding specifications, typically for software programs and systems with little or no precedent.
  • Deliver software features with exceptional quality, meeting designated release plans and delivery commitments.
  • Lead the daily work of assigned work group/team, recommending modifications to daily operations and making needed adjustments to short-term priorities.
  • Own a functional area, breaking down large requests into sub-tasks, giving higher-level status updates, and writing test plans.
  • Network with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise, interacting with direct team, peers, and/or managers in other teams, and may interact with vendors and/or customers to share information and improve workflow processes.
  • May design specifications of assigned projects and lead in implementation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all areas of the professional function and advanced in-depth specialization in some.
  • Participate in developing technical/business approaches and new or enhanced technical tools, with proven expertise in software design, architecture, and software and system interrelationships.
  • Set software engineering project schedules, define project parameters and tasks, and monitor project tasks, developing and keeping the vision of the project, leading others toward its completion.
  • Resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways.
  • Own the development and rollout for an entire product or large project, championing process, writing tech specs, identifying risks, and setting standards.
  • Allocate and track the work of individual contributors, participating in teaching and training members of the work group/team.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of experience in engineering, software engineering, or a related field, or high school/GED and at least 7 years of experience in engineering, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience writing code for moderate to complex online applications, microservices, or mobile applications, or deployment automation.
  • Experience with programming languages for online applications, microservices, or mobile applications, or deployment automation.
  • Experience designing/building moderately complex applications.
  • Experience writing automated test scripts.
  • Experience creating coding/scripting solutions to fix complex problems/issues.
  • Experience engaging with the executive level.
  • At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team leadership.
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes within state and out of state.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Experience in working on the Kubernetes platform on a microservices architecture on high-traffic applications.
  • Prior experience in mentoring a team of engineers, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
  • Enthusiastic about promoting high-quality standards in the team across documentation, unit testing, code reviews, test automation, and CI/CD.
  • Hands-on full-stack proficiency (e.g., Java, NodeJS, SQL, NoSQL, React, JavaScript, etc.).
  • Mentor team in the choice of Enterprise Integration patterns for seamless integration with other enterprise and external assets.
  • Big picture person with an obsession with functional completeness, performance, security, and resilience of end-to-end solution.
  • Strong knowledge in implementing, securing, capacity planning, and performance tuning solutions deployed to cloud technologies like Azure (ACS, AKS), or similar cloud platforms such as Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, AWS, or Cloud Foundry.
