As an Inpatient Pharmacy Tech at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective preparation and distribution of medications to our patients. Under the direction of a licensed pharmacist, you will be responsible for preparing, dispensing, and distributing medications, pharmaceutical products, and intravenous admixtures, including hazardous drugs. You will also maintain pharmacy inventory and equipment, and assist other healthcare professionals as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Drug Procurement & Storage: Maintain and review pharmacy inventory in designated areas, ensuring that medications are properly stored and disposed of in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Drug Preparation/Dispensing: Fill unit dose patient-specific medication supplies, package and seal emergency medication supplies, and perform substitution of drug equivalents through knowledge of generic, trade, chemical drug names, and approved therapeutic equivalents.
- Automated Systems & Equipment: Operate and maintain specialized pharmacy equipment, including automated dispensing devices, I.V. compounding pumps, and other equipment used in the pharmacy.
- Regulatory: Uphold Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.
- Pharmacy Technician License (California)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Working knowledge of aseptic technique and ability to prepare sterile IV products
- Ability to learn and willingness to prepare hazardous drugs where hazardous drugs are prepared
- Proficiency in oral and written English communication skills
- Ability to read, understand, and transcribe pharmaceutical information
