Job DescriptionSchool Social Worker/Behavioralist ABA Position Summary:
  • Provides individualized therapeutic support and documentation in accordance with agency and professional standards.

This role collaborates closely with the school Assistant Principal and the Licensed Social Worker to provide comprehensive therapy services to children and their families or caregivers within the Grove Street Academy.

Maintaining effective relationships with family, community members, and social services liaisons is crucial to this position.


Responsibilities:
  • Offers individual, group, and family therapy sessions, including trauma-informed approaches.
  • Develops and implements interventions to reduce problematic behaviors and enhance positive outcomes.
  • Establishes treatment objectives for children, leveraging historical and current data in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Facilitates skill development for children aligned with established goals.
  • Fosters connections with community resources and promotes skill-building, providing access to necessary resources for families.
  • Collaborates with the team to ensure effective communication and coordination among family, case planning staff, and medical practitioners.
  • Delivers psychoeducation and wellness education to promote overall well-being.
  • Enhances adherence to behavioral expectations.
  • Applies evidence-based psychotherapeutic methods in interventions.
  • Demonstrates cultural competency when interacting with diverse child and family populations, offering workshops for parents.
  • Coordinates referrals for healthcare and professional services, as well as access to public benefits.
  • Provides educational workshops and support to school staff on mental health matters and social-emotional needs.
  • Delivers services based on the child's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
  • Conducts teacher outreach, gathering information about students and tracking responses from teachers, especially for special education students.
  • Attends regular counseling department and attendance meetings.
  • Demonstrates expertise in:
    • -Typical child and adolescent development
    • -Indications of developmental delays or disabilities The impacts of trauma, abuse, separation, and loss
    • -Family systems theory and family therapy
    • -Human sexual development and behavior
    • -Indicators of alcohol or substance abuse
    • -Neglect and family violence
  • Engages in ongoing professional development.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements:
  • Proficient communication, reading, and writing skills in English for seamless interaction with agency staff and external parties.
  • Prior experience in the child welfare system, foster care, and healthcare requirements.
  • Adequate knowledge of computer systems, spreadsheets, and word processing software (Excel and Word).
  • A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and the ability to operate agency vehicles.
  • Sound judgment and adherence to agency policies, practices, and procedures.
