We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Athletic Trainer to join our team at JAG Physical Therapy. In this rewarding full-time position, you will serve as a key member of our sports medicine department, providing comprehensive athletic training services to affiliated organizations in the Staten Island, NY area.

Job Summary

The Senior Athletic Trainer will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective athletic training programs for contracted organizations, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for athletes. This includes coordinating emergency care, managing medical and risk management, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide top-notch care.

Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain functional athletic training rooms with updated policies and procedures manuals
  • Provide AT services for athletic events and competitions
  • Create and maintain safe playing environments by monitoring and controlling environmental risks
  • Coordinate, manage, and implement medical and risk management for all athletes, including preventative care, emergency care, and health record maintenance
  • Act as workers' compensation case manager for professional teams, submitting insurance information, facilitating referrals, and tracking claims within HIPAA/FERPA guidelines
  • Demonstrate speed, efficiency, and flexibility in providing care, utilizing critical thinking skills
  • Document injuries, illnesses, treatment, rehabilitation, etc., according to JAG Athletic Training policy and state licensure standards
  • Develop and deliver in-services and educational programs on health and fitness topics to local schools, coaches, athletes, and communities
  • Utilize effective communication skills to involve athletes, families, and others in plan of care within HIPAA/FERPA guidelines
  • Collaborate with JAG professionals in programs such as Physical Therapy and physician-related services
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE-approved program
  • BOC certification and 50 CEUs per certification period (every two years)
  • New York State licensure as an Athletic Trainer
  • Current BLS certification
  • Possess personal liability insurance
  • Flexibility and adaptability to adjust to fluid situations
