Sanitation Technician

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sanitation Technician to join our team at The J. M. Smucker Company. As a key member of our production team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our facilities.

• Act as a steward of our company culture and coach others on our Basic Beliefs and Commitment to Each Other.
• Support the company and site safety policies.
• Provide on-the-floor support for technicians during sanitation days.
• Complete assigned daily inside and outside of the plant cleaning tasks and associated paperwork.
• Manage sanitation inventory.
• Stock GMP stations, foot bathmats, and sanitation storages.
• Supply janitorial service with supplies when needed.
• Ensure the main hallway is clean.
• Keep chemical storage rooms clean and organized.
• Use Enviromap to label environmental monitoring swabs and complete swabs.
• Have a thorough understanding of all sanitation chemicals and their uses.
• Be willing to learn how to perform and troubleshoot all CIP systems.
• Understand how to titrate chemicals and can alter chemical concentrations if needed and complete associated documentation.
• Change out chemical drums and properly dispose of empty chemical drums.
• Navigate through Proficy.
• Use portable foamers, pneumatic foamers, boost foamer, and troubleshoot when necessary.
• Operate riding floor scrubber and walk behind floor scrubber.
• Operate forklift and scissor lift.
• Maintain and troubleshoot floor scrubbers and work with Tennant when issues arise.
• Complete general maintenance repairs.
• Perform Quality initiatives, projects, and improvement-based tasks.

• High-school degree or equivalent is required.
• Prior sanitation experience preferred, but not required.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as safety rules, GMPs, and general instructions.
• Good communication skills are required both verbally and written.
• Ability to use a computer and input data required for production.
• Ability to give and receive feedback.
• Ability to perform critical thinking skills to problem solve and resolve conflicts.
