Job Title: PLC Technician

Hydro Extrusions is a world-leading aluminium extrusion business with a global presence and a commitment to innovation and sustainability. We are seeking a skilled PLC Technician to join our team and contribute to the success of our operations.

Job Summary:

The PLC Technician will be responsible for the installation, start-up, and maintenance of electrical equipment and control systems, with a focus on troubleshooting PLC-based systems. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of industrial control systems, including PLC programming and configuration, and will be able to work collaboratively with our operating and maintenance departments to select and standardize equipment and software upgrades.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the installation, start-up, and maintenance of electrical equipment and control systems, with a focus on troubleshooting PLC-based systems.
  • Handle PLC and HMI configurations, including minor changes such as adding alarms, timers, and addressing issues like bouncing input contacts.
  • Collaborate with operating and maintenance departments to select and standardize equipment, software, and device upgrades for improved operation and reliability.
  • Document and communicate control system changes to engineers and maintenance staff, ensuring all shifts are informed of recent updates.
  • Work with IT and plant engineering specialists to resolve complex problems and contact equipment suppliers for technical support as needed.
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in programming/navigating and troubleshooting PLC control systems is a must.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC-5, SLC-500, ControLogix, and Panelview Plus is a big plus.
  • Familiarity with the following industrial control communication protocols: ControlNet, Ethernet, DH+, Remote I/O, DeviceNet.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and combustion control systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Windows operating system, PC/software configurations, and how PLC software works with computer operating systems.
  • Selected candidates will be required to pass written and hands-on tests.
Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma Required. Associate's degree in electrical/electronic technology field preferred, or equivalent experience.
