Overview:

The Retail Cashier Associate plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service by warmly welcoming customers as they enter the store and ensuring efficient and accurate processing of transactions. This position requires greeting customers at the register, scanning items, handling sales, refunds, and exchanges, while also performing training, maintenance, and stocking duties as assigned, similar to that of a team player at Cnrgstores. The Cashier Associate is often the first and last point of contact for customers, making it essential to create a positive shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Embody and uphold the mission and values of Cnrgstores.
  • Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently, including various payment methods (credit cards, cash, checks, etc.).
  • Welcome customers upon entry and express gratitude as they exit, fostering a friendly atmosphere.
  • Verify the accuracy of merchandise quantities, descriptions, and prices during transactions.
  • Manage returns, exchanges, and sales of products effectively.
  • Respond to incoming phone inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Handle payments for commercial accounts and assist with credit applications.
  • Complete and organize due tickets for customer pickups.
  • Issue rain checks for out-of-stock items as necessary.
  • Count down cash drawers, prepare deposits, and ensure proper organization for the next day.
  • Utilize credit and check verification systems in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure efficient handling of paperwork, including filing and storage, while maintaining daily reports and documentation.
  • Guide customers to store items and collaborate with team members for assistance.
  • Safeguard cash and adhere to controls to protect company assets.
  • Maintain a positive customer service attitude consistently.
  • Follow all cashier procedures diligently.
  • Accurately distinguish between similar products.
  • Contribute to store cleanliness and organization.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications for Success:

A successful Retail Cashier Associate will consistently demonstrate the mission and values of Cnrgstores. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential for effective interaction with customers, vendors, and team members. The ideal candidate will be customer-focused, team-oriented, and possess excellent organizational abilities. The ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously is crucial. Physical requirements include the capability to climb ladders, reach, bend, twist, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs., and handle large or awkward items. Proficiency in counting and distinguishing denominations of money, along with a high level of product knowledge, is expected. Flexibility in scheduling, including availability for weekends, evenings, and holidays, is necessary.
