The Oncology Infusion Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe administration of chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments, as well as blood transfusions. This position requires exceptional intravenous therapy skills, proficiency in chemotherapy preparation, dosage calculations, and monitoring of laboratory results, along with a comprehensive understanding of NCCN guidelines and standard care regimens.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate oncology and chemotherapy clinic appointments, ensuring thorough assessment of pre-visit documentation and lab results.
- Interpret and implement therapeutic orders while arranging necessary follow-up appointments and referrals.
- Participate in ongoing education and professional development related to oncology and chemotherapy.
As part of your role, you will:
- Monitor vital signs including heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, weight, and temperature.
- Manage medical supply inventory effectively.
- Provide clinical leadership in complex and unpredictable situations.
- Collaborate with physicians and team members to deliver safe, effective patient care.
- Demonstrate excellent phlebotomy and communication skills.
- Possess oncology experience or at least one year of direct patient care as a registered nurse.
- Utilize computer systems and electronic medical records proficiently.
- Ensure accurate documentation for patient medical records.
- Hold an Associate degree in nursing, with BLS certification; Chemotherapy Certification is preferred.
- Maintain confidentiality and proper handling of proprietary information.
