Job Summary:
As a Clinical Education Specialist at Kaiser Permanente, you will collaborate with Education Consultants and managers to develop, design, deliver, and evaluate education strategies and special projects/programs based on clients' departmental goals and needs, as well as organizational goals and objectives. You will implement education programs and strategies and coordinate to meet regulatory program requirements and organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, coordinate, and evaluate programs to meet regulatory requirements and organizational, departmental, and discipline-specific needs.
  2. Design, develop, and coordinate activities for continuing professional education for staff.
  3. Collaborate with consultants to develop special projects in professional education, development, and learning.
  4. Communicate and market education programs to a broad target audience using appropriate methods and based on identified/assessed needs.
  5. Participate in classroom instruction on developed projects.
  6. Make recommendations for cost/quality strategies, work within budget, and serve as an expert resource to staff and departments in defining and meeting educational, clinical, quality, and cost outcomes and performance measures.
  7. Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate/improve the orientation, cross-training, and education/competency processes/systems for clinical staff.
  8. Respond to corporate and industry changes in clinical practice and professional education and provide necessary training, education, and development to improve organizational performance.
  9. Ensure compliance and documentation of organizational records based on regulatory agency standards.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience

  1. Minimum two (2) years of previous teaching experience required or previous recent experience in in-service education in a clinical service area (usually two (2) to five (5) years).
Education

  1. Bachelor's degree or four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
  2. High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration

  1. Registered Nurse License (California)
  2. International Board Lactation Consultant Examiners Certificate within 12 months of hire
Additional Requirements:

  1. Experience in breast-feeding education and postpartum and/or mother-baby.
  2. Knowledge of Standards of Care pertinent to breast-feeding education.
  3. Adult learning knowledge required.
  4. Demonstrated ability to utilize interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and group facilitator/process skills.
  5. Computer literacy required.
Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Masters Degree preferred.
  2. CPR instructor preferred.
  3. Certified Lactation Educator (CLE).
  4. Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
  5. BLS
  6. PALS.
  7. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  8. Strong customer service skills.
  9. BSN preferred.
