Job Summary

Carle Foundation Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Behavioral Health Intern to join our team. As a key member of our outpatient behavioral health team, you will provide behavioral health assessment, intervention, and consultation to individuals and/or groups identified as having behavioral health needs.

Under the general supervision of the Intern Supervisor, you will plan treatment modalities, coordinate and follow treatment plans. You will also provide crisis evaluation and intervention as needed.

This internship is funded through Illinois Health Practice Alliance, and as a condition of this grant funding, participating interns must identify as Black, Indigenous and people of color.

Responsibilities
  • Performs diagnostic assessments, collects diagnostic information, and determines immediate treatment plan needs with patients.
  • Requests medical or supervisory consultation, where indicated, in a diligent and timely manner.
  • Completes treatment plan in conjunction with client, identifying goals/objectives that are connected to needs identified in the assessment.
  • Provides behavioral health therapy to individuals, families and/or groups identified as having behavioral health needs.
  • Coordinates with Mobile Crisis Response and other crisis service teams for clients presenting who may be a danger to self or others.
  • Maintains records in accordance with Trillium Place policies, as well as state and federal oversight agencies and accreditation agencies including Joint Commission, Medicaid, Medicaid Rehabilitation Option, Illinois Department of Public Health, and Commercial Insurances.
  • Acts as a liaison and resource between the community and patient needs; coordinates treatment goals with community agencies, primary care physicians, court system, and managed-care entities.
Requirements
  • EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's Degree in in counseling and guidance, rehabilitation counseling, social work, education, vocational counseling, psychology, pastoral counseling, family therapy, or related human service field.
  • or Bachelor's degree in any other field with two years of documented clinical experience in a mental health setting under the supervision of a QMHP (as defined by IL Rule 140/132).
  • ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
  • Meet criteria for IL Rule 140/132 Mental Health Professional: Currently enrolled in Master's degree practicum/internship.
