Job Summary:
The Shipping Associate is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective shipment of high-quality products. This role requires versatility in various areas of the Shipping Department, including running pick lists, using handheld scanners, and retrieving merchandise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Run pick list reports to verify items are in LOAD and various locations.
- Properly use handheld scanners to process merchandise.
- Retrieve frames and mattress protector type merchandise for assigned trucks.
- Move and scan items to and from the Return Lane location and Repair Shops with assistance.
- Process transfers from sales floor to shipping lanes using handheld scanners.
- Assure warehouse labels are attached to each item while checking for accuracy in tagging and report variances.
- Operate and maintain equipment in safe and clean condition.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
- Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety, complying with OSHA and SDS standards.
- Open, stage, and inspect, at minimum, seven (7) pieces of merchandise per hour.
- Ensure merchandise is accurate and free of damage, reporting quality variances.
- Properly package merchandise for delivery vehicles.
- Efficiently move merchandise from storage areas into staging area in shipping.
Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy furniture up to 500 lbs safely and with assistance.
- Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and maneuver efficiently around the warehouse and warehouse property.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
- Must be able to work in a warehouse environment subject to temperature changes not easily controlled by heating or air conditioning.
