About the Role

Georgia Tech is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our campus community, enforcing laws and regulations, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in law enforcement patrol functions, including foot, bike, and vehicle patrols, to ensure the safety and security of the campus community.
  • Operate a law enforcement vehicle during day and night shifts, including emergency situations, to respond to calls for service and maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Effect arrests, use handcuffs and other restraints, and subdue resisting suspects using approved techniques and equipment.
  • Exercise independent judgment in determining when to detain, search, and arrest individuals, and when to use force and to what degree.
  • Prepare investigative and other reports, including sketches, using proper grammar, symbols, and mathematical computations.
  • Perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies, and disasters, including directing traffic, administering emergency medical aid, and securing and evacuating people from dangerous situations.
  • Mediate disputes and advise individuals of their rights and processes.
  • Gather information in criminal investigations by interviewing victims, witnesses, suspects, and confidential informants, and detecting and collecting evidence and substances.
Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED Certificate, or Vocational School Diploma.
  • No experience required, but preferred experience as a police officer, military experience, or experience in a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • One to three years of experience as a police officer, military experience, or experience in a related field.
Working Conditions

This is a non-supervisory position with no financial responsibilities. The position does not require driving, security clearance, or purchasing card (P-Card). The role is not considered a position of trust, and the position does not require travel.
