Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Medical/Surgical Nurse Specialist to join our healthcare team. As a Medical/Surgical Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, utilizing your expertise in ostomy care, catheterization, and acute care to ensure the well-being of our patients.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver exceptional nursing care to patients in the Medical/Surgical unit, focusing on post-operative recovery, wound care, and pain management.
- Perform ostomy care, specimen collection processing, and other specialized procedures as required.
- Utilize knowledge of Epic or similar EMR systems to accurately document patient information and treatment plans.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans based on individual needs.
- Adhere to standards of practice and protocols in a fast-paced medical/surgical environment.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding treatment plans and post-discharge care.
- Participate in critical care transport as needed for patient transfers within the facility.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in ostomy care and catheterization techniques.
- Experience working in an ambulatory surgery center or acute care setting.
- Familiarity with ICD9 coding and documentation standards.
- Knowledge of hospice palliative medicine principles is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
