Position Summary:

We are excited to announce an opening for a Program Underwriter within our Commercial Property Programs team. We seek a dedicated, intelligent, and passionate individual who is committed to achieving excellence in their work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management of designated programs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing both admitted and non-admitted products offered by the organization.
  • Apply underwriting expertise in commercial lines, focusing on Property and Allied Lines.
  • Collaborate with various internal departments, including actuarial, claims, legal, operations, and IT, to ensure effective program oversight.
  • Develop and implement underwriting guidelines for assigned programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Program Administrators.
  • Establish and track performance metrics for assigned programs.
  • Conduct underwriting audits on the Program Administrator's portfolio, recommending guidelines to enhance underwriting outcomes.
  • Assist in developing infrastructure by:
    1. Working with Operations and Legal Departments to create operational and compliance standards.
    2. Partnering with Actuarial to establish pricing and monitor profitability.
    3. Collaborating with Legal on contracts, policy forms, and endorsements.
    4. Engaging with Claims on TPA agreements and relationships.
  • Facilitate communication between carrier departments and program administrators.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong background in Commercial Property and Allied Lines underwriting.
  • While program management experience is advantageous, it is not a prerequisite.
  • A willingness to learn about the operational aspects of insurance that support program business, engaging with various departments such as Actuarial, Legal, Claims, IT, and Operations.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively across all management levels and underwriting disciplines.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Commercial Property underwriting.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capacity to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • BS/BA Degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • CPCU designation is a plus.
