Education

As a licensed Practical Nurse at St. Bernards Medical Center, you will be responsible for applying technical skills of practical nursing, acquired through completion of an approved Practical Nurse Program. You must have knowledge of human growth and development necessary for assessment, range of treatment and care of patients appropriate to the patient's age, as acquired through formal education course work. Current licensure or permit as a Practical Nurse in the state of Arkansas is required. Additionally, you must meet the minimum standard set for pharmacy exam.

Experience

You will have knowledge of hospital policies, procedures, practices, techniques, and equipment, acquired through orientation. This is a safety-sensitive position, and you must comply with the St. Bernards Substance Abuse Policy.

Physical Demands

This role involves working in a normal hospital environment, with exposure to biological hazards. You must be able to perform close eye work, hear normal and soft tones, distinguish smells, and distinguish temperatures by touch and proximity. You will frequently be exposed to fumes, odors, and water. You must be able to lift up to 100 lbs, carry up to 40 lbs, and push/pull up to 350 lbs. You will also frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach.

Job Summary

This is a day or night shift position, working under the direct supervision of the registered nurse. You will be responsible for providing direct and/or indirect patient care, assisting the registered nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care for an assigned group of patients. You will document patient condition, treatments, and care given.
