Position Overview

Foundations for Living is committed to delivering exceptional behavioral health and psychiatric services to youth aged 3 to 17. The Director of Educational Services is responsible for:

  • Overseeing the nature and quality of educational programs offered to hospitalized youth.
  • Addressing and resolving challenges specific to the educational sector.
  • Delivering classroom instruction to students across various hospital programs within a therapeutic environment.
  • Engaging professionally with educational institutions regarding each student's progress.
  • Collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team to plan, execute, and assess tailored treatment strategies.
Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's Degree is mandatory; a Master's Degree is preferred.

Experience: Prior experience working with children and adolescents with special educational needs is advantageous.

Licensure/Certification: A BA or BS in Elementary or Secondary Education Certification is required. An active substitute teaching certificate and/or certification in Special Education is preferred. BLS Provider certification from the American Heart Association and CPI certification are required upon completion of orientation, with both certifications needing to remain current throughout employment.

Knowledge: Candidates should possess knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and educational strategies tailored for at-risk urban populations, along with skills in individual and group management, therapeutic relationships, age-specific development, limit setting, and crisis intervention. A Trauma-Informed Care approach to education is essential.
