Harvard Street Neighborhood Health Center is seeking a highly skilled Family Medicine Practitioner to join our team. As a key member of our patient care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care to our diverse patient population.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat patients, including walk-ins, under physician supervision.
  • Provide preventive health care advice and case management, assessing the psychological impact of illness and treating or referring patients as needed.
  • Order or execute various tests, analyze diagnostic images, and provide information on patient condition.
  • Administer and prescribe treatments and drugs, inoculate and vaccinate patients to immunize them from communicable disease.
  • Elicit and record information about patient medical history.
  • Participate in medical student and/or other clinical discipline training activities at the Center.
  • Maintain continuity of care when Health Center patients utilize other healthcare facilities.
  • Refer patients for specialty services, provide documentation according to Health Center procedures, and follow up on results.
  • Participate in staff meetings, including quality assurance.
  • Participate in 24-hour on-call medical coverage, including at least two consecutive nights per week and one weekend every four weeks.
  • Participate in on-site and off-site outreach and continuing education programs to maintain licensure and meet population needs.
Requirements
  • FNP degree.
  • Current DEA and MA licenses.
  • Prior experience in ambulatory settings preferred.
  • Experience in diverse cultures preferred.
  • Bilingual in Haitian Creole and/or Spanish a plus.
Working Conditions

The Family Medicine Practitioner works in a Boston inner-city community health center. Occasional Saturday and/or weeknight coverage is an essential function of this position. On-call telephone coverage will be required, frequency depends on specialty. Long hours are sometimes required.

Physical Requirements

Physical demands requiring lifting of small pieces of equipment, boxes, and/or assisting with patient lifting, not to exceed 50 pounds. Mostly standing and walking required. Visual acuity sufficient for frequent reading. Hearing acuity sufficient for holding conversation with or without assistive audio devices.
