Job Summary

We are seeking a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team at the Rhoads 4 Surgical Unit of HUP. The successful candidate will work three 12-hour shifts per week, alternating between day and night shifts every four weeks.

Responsibilities
  • Support the nursing team by collecting and reporting patient data, and incorporating organizational competencies under the supervision of Nurse Practitioners and Registered Nurses.
  • Prepare exam rooms for provider evaluations, maintain stock levels of medical supplies, and perform inventory control methods.
  • Assist with data collection for nursing history and physical, and communicate changes to the RN or CRNP in a timely fashion.
  • Provide patient and family information to the RN or CRNP for coordination of care.
  • Maintain a safe environment and protect patients from injury by observing those at risk for falls, confusion, disorientation, wandering, or suicidal behaviors.
  • Participate in staff meetings and perform periodic quality control on urinalysis and pregnancy tests.
  • Assist physicians or CRNPs with physical exams, document findings and patient results on patient documents and in the EMR, and assist in evaluating nursing care.
Credentials and Education
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
  • CNA certification by the State of Pennsylvania required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
