In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive psychiatric care to inmates at our Williamson County Jail.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Providing psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and diagnostic interviews for inmates.
  • Developing and implementing treatment plans for inmates with mental health disorders.
  • Managing psychotropic medications and collaborating with other healthcare providers to deliver holistic patient care.
  • Participating in case reviews, treatment team meetings, and consultations with facility leadership.
  • Providing crisis intervention and support during emergencies.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of developments in psychiatric practice, relevant laws, and policies.

Requirements:

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry.
  • Valid state medical license and ability to practice in Texas.
  • Experience in correctional or forensic psychiatry is preferred but not required.
  • Strong understanding of psychiatric disorders, treatment options, and psychotropic medications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in a diverse and often challenging environment.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism in high-stress situations and demonstrate empathy for patients.
  • Ability to adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with legal standards.
