Job Title: Senior Process Engineer

At Merit Medical Systems, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Wafer Fabrication department, you will be responsible for overseeing the diffusion, LPCVD deposition, RIE etching, and sputtering processes in our Merit Sensor Wafer Fab.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard technical techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Investigate a moderate number of technical variables in completing assignments that have clear and defined objectives.
  • Perform work which involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents.
  • Work independently on standard projects while assistance is furnished on unusual problems.
  • Receive instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions.
  • May supervise the work of engineers/technicians or others who assist in specific assignments and work jointly with other engineers.
  • Perform work of some higher technical level for continuing training purposes.
  • Work on special projects, write ECN's, and create prototypes under broad direction.
  • May have authority over NCMR'S.
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as required.
Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, with a preference for a degree in chemical engineering, although all engineering disciplines are eligible.
  • Five years of experience in diffusion and LPCVD Nitride and Polysilicon deposition processes.
  • Three years of experience in RIE and Sputtering processes and understanding of the semiconductor manufacturing process flow.
  • Experience using metrology tools to measure silicon oxide, silicon nitride, polysilicon, and thin metal film layer thicknesses.
  • Utilizing SPC to monitor processes and optimize them within control limits and the performance of the equipment.
  • Acting as an area expert in processes and equipment and working with the maintenance team and vendors to resolve tool issues.
  • Self-motivated to initiate actions to prevent and resolve process excursions, with the ability to multi-task.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement projects to improve yield, efficiency, and scrap reduction.
  • Understanding of DOE, 8D approach, and disposition of non-conformance products.
  • Experience using statistical software such as JMP, Minitab.
  • Create and revise training and operation documentation, including writing protocols and reports to qualify new processes and training operators and technicians on new and updated process specifications.
