Your Role
As a pivotal part of our buildings engineering team, you will engage in intelligent collaboration and innovative execution. Our extensive experience in building technologies and environmental performance enables us to deliver exceptional results. You will work closely with clients and regulatory bodies to ensure that designs and constructions meet safety, performance, and sustainability standards.
As a Residential Inspector, your primary responsibility will be to assess and approve residential construction projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and regulations. This involves:
- Interpreting and enforcing approved plans and calculations.
- Collaborating with developers, contractors, and clients to identify and resolve compliance issues.
- Understanding various construction methods and their applications.
- Evaluating projects based on specific conditions, including the nature of work and applicable codes.
- Maintaining accurate field records and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections based on approved plans and specifications.
- Communicate nonconformance issues and approvals through written correspondence.
- Travel to construction sites to verify compliance with plans and codes.
- Maintain inspection records and report results as required.
- Advise clients on deficiencies and inspection processes.
- Stay updated on code changes and maintain certifications through ongoing education.
- Assist clients and colleagues in clarifying requirements and resolving issues.
Qualifications
Essential Skills and Experience
Knowledge of:
- International Code Council Residential codes and local building regulations.
- Construction materials, methods, and processes.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to:
- Collaborate effectively with clients and the public.
- Read and interpret technical plans and specifications accurately.
- Apply code requirements consistently and objectively.
- Understand and interpret graphic instructions such as blueprints.
- Comprehend written materials and make informed decisions.
- Work safely and adhere to all safety regulations.
Additional Requirements
- ICC Residential Building Inspector certification is required at the time of hire.
- Possession or ability to obtain additional ICC certifications in mechanical, plumbing, or electrical within specified timeframes.
- A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is necessary.
Education and Experience
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, along with two years of experience in inspecting construction projects for compliance with relevant codes and regulations. Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
This role involves field inspections that may require driving, physical activity, and exposure to various weather conditions.
