Position Overview:

The College of Arts and Sciences is in search of a dynamic Writer with exceptional storytelling abilities to enhance our educational, research, fundraising, and outreach efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the planning and creation of content across various initiatives and media.
  • Identify compelling stories and conduct interviews with diverse subjects.
  • Produce a variety of written materials including news releases, articles for newsletters, feature stories, and website content.
  • Support the development of brochures, reports, and social media content as required.
  • Engage in assessing communication strategies and contribute to data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with a range of stakeholders including faculty, staff, students, alumni, and donors.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Two years of professional experience in content creation for print or broadcast media.
  • Experience in developing and executing communication strategies in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently.
  • Proven effectiveness in a diverse team setting.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks efficiently.

Preferred:

  • Three or more years of professional experience in communications.
  • Exceptional proofreading and editing skills.
  • Experience in managing editorial calendars.
  • Familiarity with AP and/or Chicago style guidelines.
  • Background in media relations.
  • Experience in analyzing engagement metrics.
  • Skills in creating content for audio or visual media.
