Position Overview:
The College of Arts and Sciences is in search of a dynamic Writer with exceptional storytelling abilities to enhance our educational, research, fundraising, and outreach efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the planning and creation of content across various initiatives and media.
- Identify compelling stories and conduct interviews with diverse subjects.
- Produce a variety of written materials including news releases, articles for newsletters, feature stories, and website content.
- Support the development of brochures, reports, and social media content as required.
- Engage in assessing communication strategies and contribute to data-driven decision-making.
- Collaborate with a range of stakeholders including faculty, staff, students, alumni, and donors.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field.
- Two years of professional experience in content creation for print or broadcast media.
- Experience in developing and executing communication strategies in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently.
- Proven effectiveness in a diverse team setting.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks efficiently.
Preferred:
- Three or more years of professional experience in communications.
- Exceptional proofreading and editing skills.
- Experience in managing editorial calendars.
- Familiarity with AP and/or Chicago style guidelines.
- Background in media relations.
- Experience in analyzing engagement metrics.
- Skills in creating content for audio or visual media.
