Journeyman Electrician

Frostburg State University is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Physical Plant Department, you will be responsible for performing electrical work at the journey level, installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment and facilities involving electrical circuits carrying less than 13,000 volts.

• Perform electrical work at the journey level, including installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
• Work under general supervision, with a focus on delivering high-quality results and meeting deadlines.
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless execution of electrical projects.
• Develop and implement effective solutions to electrical system issues, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
• Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues, promoting a culture of excellence and innovation.

• Four years of progressively responsible experience in the electrical trade.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems, including theory, principles, methods, and techniques.
• Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations, electrical codes, and industry standards.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering results in a fast-paced environment.

• Additional experience as a journeyman level electrician and/or experience in a lead electrician capacity.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing fire alarm systems, security systems, and other electronic devices.
