About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Assistant Cook to join our culinary team at The Educational Alliance. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of our food service program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, inventory management, and staff supervision.
  • Oversee daily tasks of the kitchen, including meal planning, food preparation, and presentation.
  • Implement collaborative practices within kitchen staff to ensure high-quality food and efficient service.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen colleagues, agency colleagues, and community members.
  • Assist with menu planning, food ordering, and inventory management.
  • Ensure compliance with health and sanitation department standards, including HACCP guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chef or management.
Requirements
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in food service, preferably in a senior role.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work with diverse staff and volunteers.
  • Competency in various ethnic cuisines and knowledge of nutrition and older adult needs.
  • Food Protection Certificate and ability to implement and train staff on Food Sanitation protocols.
  • Ability to lead, instruct, and mentor staff and volunteers.
  • Basic math skills, including calculations, fractions, and percentages.
  • Ability to work under direct supervision, within a defined budget, and meet physical demands of the job.
