Job Summary

AvaMed Workforce is seeking a highly skilled Licensed Clinical Social Worker to join our team in a correctional facility setting. As a key member of our mental health team, you will provide critical services to inmates, including crisis intervention, group psychotherapy, and face-to-face interviews.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial mental health evaluations, including assessments of criminal, psychological, and substance abuse case history.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans that reflect the standard of practice, including writing clinical reports and documenting all care provided to inmates.
  • Consult with supervisors, treatment team members, and CDCR institutional health care personnel on complex cases.
  • Monitor inmate progress using CDCR Mental Health approved documentation formatting for progress notes.
  • Apply community standard of practices for non-medical treatment modalities and ethical standards.
  • Perform mental status exams (MSE) in face-to-face clinical interviews.
  • Examine prior mental health records, institutional charts, probation reports, court records, and other available documents to assist in the formulation of patient diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Conduct mental health education and develop additional resources for mentally ill and sex offender inmates.
  • Assist inmates in applying for entitlement benefits (SSI), community programs, and services.
  • Facilitate inmate transitions between various settings within the institution.
  • Perform pre-release functions for releasing inmates, including patient education and facilitating transition to county mental health and community mental health treatment programs.
  • Participate in IDTT meetings and compile and analyze data from audits pertaining to the mental health program requirements.
  • Provide written reports and consult with the Board of Prison Hearings and other CDCR staff.
  • Develop a therapeutic relationship with inmates, families, and caretakers to enhance effective treatment delivery.
  • Represent the Department at formal and informal settings regarding mental health matters related to clinical social work.
  • Maintain order and supervise the conduct of persons committed to the correctional facility to prevent escapes or injury.
Requirements
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
  • Ability to work in conditions that require all of the essential functions listed above.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
